XR4 is what you get when you add 6 meter coverage to the great XR3 antenna (see above) with the same single feedline and a scarcely longer 11.5 foot boom. It is the obvious choice for someone in the market for a C-3 or C-19XR class Yagi (those models now retired) but who also wants to have fun on the Magic Band!
If you need an even smaller footprint select the Reduced Size Capacitive Loaded 20m Elements option (XR4-C). The XR4-C shrinks the 20m elements from approximately 38 to 29 feet using a mechanically and electromagnetically superior capacitive loading system (superior to linear and inductive ‘coil’ loading techniques) and is otherwise identical to the XR4 with essentially no sacrifice in performance
Note that the boom-to-mast bracket system and balun are sold separately on all XR Series antennas. Many of our customers already have a viable bracket on hand so this saves them money, other customers are using “ring rotator’ systems (like the new AlfaSpid BIG-RING) or rotating towers which don’t require such bracketing and on top of that there are a variety of mast sizes to accomodate and differing environment considerations. Likewise with Baluns, Force 12 sells a variety of baluns that are suitable for XR Series use and many customers already have baluns on hand.
