ARRL member Jenean Hampton, K5EIB, the relatively new Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky, was a guest of honor at the Greater Louisville Hamfest on September 10.
She told attendees that her duties as Lieutenant Governor did not let her be as involved in ham radio as she would like, but she does keep a 2 meter hand-held transceiver with her because, she explained, it’s important to always be prepared in the event of an emergency.”
Lt Gov Hampton was interviewed by Katie Allen, WY7YL, for Amateur Radio Roundtable on August 23. She told Allen that she’s really looking forward to getting some “serious equipment” and that not having time for ham radio is one of the things she regrets about her life in politics.
