Hamvetion Dayton
Hello to all Hamvention Visitors, Welcome to Dayton, Ohio and to the 63rd Dayton Hamvention. The past 62 annual gatherings of amateurs have had their special moments and activities that we all remember. Our committees have worked hard all year long to plan and improve this year’s event. Sponsored again by Dayton Amateur Radio Association (DARA), this year’s event has remained a totally volunteer activity. With well over 400 volunteers, our goal is to make every Hamvention the benchmark event of the worldwide amateur radio community. Continuing with 2014’s “Makers“ theme, we have tried to expand in a similar vein the “Homebrew” aspect of the hobby. With the upswing of interest in the newer technologies such as: the large Makers Movement seen worldwide, use of software operated devices designed by the amateur, 3D printing and circuit design, and Mesh Networking of communications, we are attempting to draw all phases of the Home Brew aspect of today’s hobby together here at Dayton in 2015. We invite you to look at some of the new technologies that have grown out of the old tried and true “Homebrew” successes of the past. While here in Dayton we hope you can renew old friendships and kindle new and lasting ones. Attend as many Forums as you can that follow your interests, or go to new ones discovered while here. But most of all please enjoy your time with us. We thank you for attending this year, and look forward to our planning of the 2016 Hamvention to make it as good an experience for you as we can make it.
