COMTEK ACB-4 Hybrid Four-Square Systems are phased array Relay Units and Control Consoles that are affordable, simple to install, and easy to use. A phased array consists of two or more elements fed in phase relationships and power ratios that produce a directional pattern. Four-square arrays offer over 5 dB of forward gain and fantastic front-to-back rejection over 25 dB! Ground-mounted vertical arrays are easier to build and less costly to maintain than towers and beam antennas. Four-Square arrays are a practical solution for building a high performance directional HF antenna system, especially for Low Band DXing. Click the Instructions link for more information on COMTEK ACB-4 Hybrid Four-Square Systems.
COMTEK ACB-4 Hybrid Four-Square Systems can be used with two elements for two directions, but are designed for use with a four element vertical arrays for an excellent cardioid pattern with four selectable directions. COMTEK ACB-4 Hybrid Four-Square Relay Units are single-band, available for each major Amateur band from 160 meters to 10 meters. Four-Square arrays are band-specific, due to antenna spacing and phasing feedline lengths.
DX Engineering also offers our newly designed, upgraded Hybrid system called the “Transmit Four Square” or TFS4 series. Hams around the world are enjoying the addition of an Omni-directional position, hot-switching lockout for amp keying, better relays and components for 5kW capability, push-button directional switching and more with the DX Engineering TFS4 series.
DX Engineering offers a full line of cables, antennas and accessories for your phased array installation.
The original COMTEK ACB-4 Hybrid Four-Square Systems now include new COMTEK ACB-4A Four-Square Control Consoles. Specially designed to be useful as replacements for existing COMTEK ACB Hybrid four-square antenna systems, ACB-4A consoles now feature a 12 Vdc input to be easily integrated into all stations, including those that can be run on 12 Vdc emergency power. They have four scratch pad labels and LEDs to indicate the array directional positions. COMTEK ACB-4A Four-Square Control Consoles are ready to control your COMTEK Hybrid Array with your low-cost three conductor control cable.
COMTEK ACB-4 Hybrid Four-Square Systems include the 90 Degree Hybrid Relay Units with these features:
* 2 kW rating for Amateur SSB and CW
* 15 amp gold plated contact relays with dust covers
* PTFE silver stranded wire over fiberglass tape-wound toroids
* Balanced temperature, frequency, and voltage stable capacitors
* Double-sided printed circuit board
* MOVs for lightning surge protection with RF bypass caps
* Brushed aluminum Z-chassis and cover with riveted seams
* Mounting clamp included
